Our Story

In the beginning…

The practice was started by Principal Physiotherapist Paul Hattam who converted some space in his Sheffield home into a treatment room and started seeing patients in early 1993. Whilst the start was humble, the practice enjoyed a growing reputation among patients and Sheffield GPs which, in turn, led to steady growth and the need to find additional space. The move to Taptonville House in Broomhill 3 years later, in which the space was shared with a busy dental business, doubled the capacity and allowed the practice to start developing a team of clinicians that could meet the increasing demand for services. Paul recalls: “I think in the early days of the practice we had a good idea of what we wanted it to look like and, bit by bit, we have managed to piece together what we have now.

Coming home…

After 10 years of sharing a building, it was time to find our own space. Despite the best efforts of professional agents to locate a suitable site, it was one of our patients (aged 84) who dropped the details off during an appointment about her painful knee – we’ll always be thankful to Jessie! Since moving to 1 Beech Hill Road in 2008, we have been patiently restoring the Grade II listed building which (let’s be honest) was in a bit of state when we moved in! We have now completed the transformation, both inside and out, into the welcoming space we now enjoy and are also very proud to have assembled a team of people who are enthusiastic about delivering ‘gold standard’ care for every patient.

Taking it forwards…

There is only so much you can do on your own, right? Our continued growth in recent years is in no small part due to the arrival of Johnny Cassidy who became Clinical Director in 2015. Johnny has been responsible for developing the services and clinical expertise within the practice and has an integral role in strategic development and implementation. Paul & Johnny work hard behind the scenes to continually develop the practice and ensure we are providing the excellent care we set out to do all those years ago.
