Patellofemoral pain syndrome (Runners knee)

Runners knee or patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is due to irritation affecting the cartilage at the back of the kneecap due to the repetitive loads. The related condition, jumpers knee, is another injury due to repetitive loads through the front of the knee resulting in pain in the thick tendon below the knee cap.
