Sports massage

Sports massage involves the manipulation of soft tissues to help correct problems caused by repetitive or strenuous physical activity.

Sports massage is often used alongside physiotherapy treatment to enhance the outcome from treatment. You do not need to be an athlete to benefit as the techniques are skilfully adapted to suit everyone. It’s used to:

  • alleviate tension caused by stress or work postures
  • keep persistent niggles at bay
  • reduce after effects of strenuous activity – post-event (distance running)
  • to reduce the effects of Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)
  • optimise muscle function and prevent injury – pre-event
